Women’s B-ball loses
The women’s basketball team fell to two GNAC competitors this weekend at home in the Patty Center gym.
Thursday, the Nanooks fell to Northwest Nazarene 73-68. The Crusaders led most of the game, but Alaska never trailed too far behind. Senior Kari Reabold led the Nanooks with 22 points. Fellow senior Joscelyn Shumate followed with 17 points.
Saturday, Seattle Pacific University was in town. The Falcons continued their undefeated season by downing the Nanooks 84-55. Junior Cristina Bruketta was the top-scorer for the Nanooks with 12, and Sheena Brown had 10.
The Nanooks next head to Saint Martin’s for a Valentine’s day contest.
Hockey gets split at Bowling Green
The men’s hockey team split its series this weekend at Bowling Green State University. In Friday’s game, the Nanooks lost 4-2, but came back on Saturday with a shocking 4-1 victory.
Friday, Ryan Muspratt and Dustin Sather scored for the Nanooks, and freshman Jeff Penner earned an assist on each of those goals. Senior goalie Wylie Rogers had 31 saves on the night.

The split weekend put the Nanooks in ninth place in the CCHA, still fighting for a top-eight spot which would guarantee them home ice in the first round of the playoffs.
The Nanooks’ final home games are this weekend against Notre Dame.
