Men’s team loses twice

Despite jumping to an early lead, the men’s basketball team lost to Seattle Pacific University 91-77.

Despite the loss, the showing was much better for the Nanooks than the last time the two met; a 96-65 blowout at the Patty Center in early February.

Colin Matteson led the Nanooks with 23 points. Sophomore Kevin Atkins had 15 points and eight rebounds, and freshman Keven Campbell had 16 points.

On Saturday, the Nanooks lost to Northwest Nazarene 77-60.

Matteson again led the Nanooks with 19 points. The only other Nanook to break double digits was Travis Pew, with 11 points.

The Nanooks’ final games of the season are this weekend against Western Oregon and St. Martin’s. The lone senior, Mike Titus, will be honored before Saturday’s game.

Hockey to take on UNO

The results are in: after the final weekend of CCHA play, the Nanooks’ schedule is set. They will face Nebraska-Omaha in this weekend’s first round of playoffs. The best-of-three series begins Thursday night in Omaha. Due to a country music concert on Friday, if a third game is needed, it will take place on Sunday.

The Nanooks finished the season in ninth, just behind UNO. Earlier this season, the Nanooks lost (4-3) and tied (4-4) to the Mavericks in Omaha, and lost both games (3-1, 4-3 OT) at home.
