Penner signs with Bruins

Freshman hockey player Jeff Penner signed a two-way contract with the Boston Bruins last week. He is scheduled to join their AHL affiliate, the Providence Bruins, this week.

Penner, a defenseman, played in all 35 of the Nanooks’ games and was second in scoring for defenders for Alaska with five goals and seven assists. He was beat out only by the CCHA’s Best Offensive Defenseman, junior Nanook Tyler Eckford, who recently signed a two-way contract with the New Jersey Devils.
