Whereas, The Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity has been partnered with the YouthAIDS Foundation since 2005 to promote awareness and raise money for HIV/AIDS research;

Whereas, One of their biggest and most successful means of fundraising is through the individual chapters of Sigma Phi Epsilon, which do events on their campuses that get students involved and disseminate information about HIV/AIDS;

Whereas, The Alaska Alpha Chapter is planning a fundraising event from October 25th through December 1st at the UAF dorms, in which each of the 38 floors in Residence Life compete to raise the most money in change containers at the Desk Attendant desks, with the residents of the winning floor each receiving prizes from our sponsors;

Whereas, The floors of the largest dorms have between 30 and 45 people on them, according to Residence Life;

Whereas, With a donation from ASUAF, the fraternity could purchase a set of gift cards or other prizes for the residents of the winning floor, as well as list ASUAF as a sponsor of the event, thus benefiting all parties involved; and,

Whereas, A receipt will be given to ASUAF for any donation made to the fraternity for this event, and a copy of the donation receipt from YouthAIDS will be made available as well; now, therefore be it

Enacted, That the Associated Students of the University of Alaska Fairbanks allocate $450 to the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity for the purchase of prizes for the YouthAIDS Fundraiser going on October 25 through December 1.
