Whereas the Associated Students of the University of Alaska, Fairbanks (ASUAF) annually lobbies for a myriad of projects and programs in Juneau at the Legislative Affairs Conference,

Whereas this year, both ASUAF and the UA Coalition of Student Leaders have set the Alaska Achievers Incentive Program (AAIP) as the chief priority to lobby for at the Legislative Affairs Conference,

Whereas sending University of Alaska, Fairbanks (UAF) student representatives is an integral part of both the Coalition's and ASUAF's efforts to have AAIP succeed,

Whereas nearly 60 applicants applied for consideration to be sent to the Legislative Affairs Conference to represent UAF with the Coalition in Juneau,

Whereas ASUAF has budgeted to send approximately 11 student representativesto the Legislative Affairs Conference,

Whereas the Public Relations Committee and the Government Relations Council spent upwards of 20+ hours reviewing the applicants for the Legislative Affairs Conference; now therefore be it

Enacted that ASUAF Senate spends up to $7300 to send the following people to represent UAF within the UA Coalition of Student Leaders at the Legislative Affairs Conference in Juneau:;

Kirsten Halpin
Thomas Hewitt
Monika Kunat
James "Riley" Ward
Ashton Compton
Micheal Caulfield
Karl Holt
Amy Snider
Arthur Martin

Enacted that, should there be a vacancy, send the following persons in their stead (in order of appearance):;

Rusty Boone
Katya Wassillie

Enacted, That students who travel to Juneau for the Legislative Affairs Conference must sign the ASUAF travel contract; and be it further

Enacted, That students attending the Legislative Affairs Conference in Juneau must submit a written report to the senate within one week of returning.

Fiscal Impact: 
$5800 from Legislative Conference Travel Fund and up to $1,500 Senate Travel
Purpose: 
To send UAF student represenatives to the Legislative Conference in Juneau
History: 

1st reading: 12/7/08 expediated with no objection
2nd reading: amended and adopted by consent
